etop.com.ua is a site for people taking their first steps in crypto who want an honest comparison of exchanges, without hidden advertising. I built it with Ukrainian users in mind, so the ranking also looks at UAH support and Ukrainian-language interfaces.
A Transparent Ranking Methodology
Every exchange in the ranking is scored against the same criteria with fixed weights. Most of the data is collected automatically, and where that isn’t enough I add my own assessment and label it as such. The full methodology is here.
Where the Ranking’s Data Comes From
The data comes from open APIs and my own manual checks. Most numbers update automatically, while licenses, some fees and restrictions for Ukraine I check by hand against primary sources.
| Source | What I take | How often |
|---|---|---|
| CoinGecko | Trust Score, 24-hour trading volume, number of coins, year founded, country of registration, spreads on trading pairs, official social accounts | daily |
| Exchanges’ public APIs | number of active spot pairs | daily |
| Exchanges’ public APIs and official fee pages | spot and futures fees (perpetual USDT contracts), base tier (VIP 0) | weekly, check date in the table tooltip |
| Public API of WhiteBIT, P2P offers on Binance and Bybit | USDT/UAH rate, last trade prices, 24-hour change and volume on hryvnia markets (converter page) | every minute, every 5 minutes in the background |
| National Bank of Ukraine | official dollar-to-hryvnia rate (converter page) | daily |
| Exchanges’ public APIs | spot pairs with UAH (active markets only) | weekly |
| Apple App Store (Ukrainian storefront) | official app rating, number of ratings, last update date, size, minimum iOS version | daily |
| Google Play | data for the app ranking: ratings, review counts, installs, update date | daily |
| Tranco | popularity rank of the exchange’s website | daily |
| Google Safe Browsing | whether the exchange’s website is flagged as unsafe | daily |
| Qualys SSL Labs | grade of the exchange website’s SSL setup | weekly |
| CoinMarketCap | UAH deposit and withdrawal methods (where data exists) | weekly |
| CoinMarketCap | reserves in the exchange’s publicly tracked wallets (not an audit, and not available for every exchange) | weekly |
| By hand, from primary sources: the ESMA (MiCA) register, official exchange help pages and fee pages, exchange terms of use | license, fees of exchanges without a public API, regions restricted in Ukraine | check date shown on each review page |
| By hand, from official exchange pages | crypto card terms: availability, cashback, fees (cards page) | check date shown on the page |
| By hand, my own assessment | the “Ukraine Market Support” and “Ease of Use” scores | once a month |
I take trading volume and liquidity from independent sources, never from what exchanges say about themselves. Fees I check against official pages and public APIs, and when they disagree I trust the fresher API data. On the Converter, the dollar-to-hryvnia rate is the official NBU rate and the bitcoin price comes from CoinGecko (details on that page). Formulas and weights are in the methodology.
Who This Site Is For
For anyone taking their first steps in crypto who wants to know which exchange actually fits. Fees and coin selection matter everywhere. For traders in Ukraine, so do UAH support, local payment methods and a Ukrainian-language interface.
How I Make Money
Some exchange links are referral links. If you register through one, I may get a commission from the exchange. It doesn’t change your costs or terms, and it doesn’t affect any score. Details are on the Affiliate Link Disclosure page.
